Not So Ordinary Days

Hello! Back amongst the blogging peeps after almost three months of silence. Thing is, there's been LOTS going on, some ordinary and some extraordinary but all pretty magical!
We're coming down after an exciting week of rodeoing in Panquitch, Utah; two of our five grandsons (#'s 2 and 4 in age) were entered in events at the Panquitch Invitational High School Rodeo and I'm beyond excited to announce that not only did they both do awesome but #2 grandson won the championship saddle for steer wrestling!!!! Here's evidence in living color (please pardon the rather scary eyes):

This young man will be a Junior in High School this year and has really only been jumping steers since mid-April 2013; we are astonished and so proud that his confidence has increased to the point of being relaxed and calm in the box and his technique is picture perfect. Of course, our bulldoggin' team is the cream of the crop and hazer Grampa keeps them running down the line. Tee's three runs were: 4.74 sec in the first round which was winning time; 20.12 sec in the second round (steer gave him a little nasty!); and 6.01 sec in the short go. Fantastic!

Ty, #4 grandson, will be a Sophomore in High School this year and has had some real success his entire Freshman year, winning a few rodeos all along and placing high; he won his first go at the State Finals last month and was in 7th place in the short go there. This rodeo his runs for bulldogging were: No time in the first round; 5.05 sec in the second round which was winning time; and 5.39 in the short go. 

Just a note too - Ty was entered in the tie-down roping and caught both rounds and Tee and Ty put on a couple good team roping runs in the first and second rounds.

There is a rodeo legacy happening here in the Clarence Allred family; these boys are the third generation of steer wrestlers. Clarence had some success in the 1970's and 80's and his two boys David and Doug rodeoed with good success in their high school and college days. We are very fortunate to have this strong influence in this all-American sport.
This last week at the Panguitch Invitational HS Rodeo is the culmination of three months of extraORDINARY events for us and those will be reported in the next few days' posts. Stay tuned!
